Park Fires starting three weeks ago, has now become the fourth largest wildfire in California. The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said on Friday morning that ‘the fire has grown to 299,437 acres and is only about a quarter contained as it destroys hundreds of structures.’
As of Friday morning, the state was battling 15 active wildfires. Cal Fire said more than 92,000 acres of the fire involves Forest Service land and that it is impacting “a variety of vegetation and ecosystems.”
According to Cal Fire the park fire activity is 2,816% higher than last year for the same time period. “As of July 30, 2024, wildfires have scorched a staggering 751,327 acres across our state,”
During the 2nd week of August, some 6,000 firefighters continued their battle to contain the fire in the Central Valley of California. Amid dry season and high winds, there’s little hope of rain worsening the 100 degrees Fahrenheit (38 C) sweltering heat and causing trouble to residents and firefighters.
