Saturday was the hottest day of the year in many parts of Britain. A temperature as high as 32.7C (91F) was recorded at Heathrow Airport, London according to BBC. Saturday was the sixth consecutive day the temperature had exceeded 30 degrees. The current heatwave is the longest run of 30C temperatures on record in the month of September.
According to the NHS England reports there has been a fivefold increase in the number of people seeking advice about heat exhaustion over the past week.
