The strong winds between 70 and 75 miles in Ireland and south of England caused by Storm Isha brought difficult landing conditions at the UK and Ireland’s airports, with many flights cancelled, delayed or diverted.
Some 166 flights were cancelled Sunday night, another 29 flights were cancelled on Monday, 36 flights were diverted to other airports and 34 aircraft performed what are known as “go-arounds,” or aborted landings, at Dublin airport. Some passengers ended up hundreds of miles away and sometimes in different countries than intended.
